My Dog With Her Noiseless Dog ID Tag

That sound. You know it. The jingling noise all your dog’s tags make when your dog gets up, walks, shakes, or moves in any way, shape or form. It’s even better when you are woken up from a deep sleep or a child is napping. Noiseless dog ID tags can help with this issue.

What Are Noiseless Dog ID Tags?

Noiseless dog ID tags are just what they sound like – or don’t sound like. When your dog wears these, the tags don’t make any noise. These tags attach to your dog’s collar in such a way, they don’t hang down and clatter with other tags. Wearing tags made of a soft material instead of metal also avoids any sound.

Why Use Noiseless Dog ID Tags?

Noiseless dog tags are good to use for a variety of reasons.

  • Sounds the metal tags make when they hit each other scares your dog.
  • Your dog’s tags clang against their food and water bowls when they drink.
  • Tags catch in your dog’s crate or other objects around the house. T
  • They help prevent your dog from hurting themselves if yours tries to eat their hanging tags.
  • Quiet is needed for sleeping kids (and adults 😀).
  • Harder to lose if they are secured to your dog’s collar.

What Should I Look For When Choosing Noiseless Dog ID Tags?

Type

There are 2 types of noiseless dog ID tags: those that attach to your dogs collar and lie flush with it and there are ones that hang like a regular dog tag but are made of a material that doesn’t make any noise.

Material

Noiseless dog ID tags are made of various materials. Depending on how rambunctious your dog is may determine how long your tag will last.

  • Stainless Steel. This is a durable tag, however, it has a tendency to get scratched.
  • Silicone. Some noiseless ID tags are made of all silicone and some use a silicone base with openings on the ends that your dog’s collar slides through. On the plus side , the where the collar slides through stretches, so it can fit on most sizes and types of collars. The downside to silicone is it is not as durable as metal and it can tear and dogs are able to chew these easily.

Attachment

How your ID tag attaches to your dog’s collar is important to consider.

  • Slide – On. These tags slide onto your dog’s collar through openings on either end. The tags could be of a silicone material, which would allow the ends to stretch to fit most sized collars. They can also be made of stainless steel. Be aware of the opening on each side and the type of collar you will be using. Some of these tags have a closed side and some have an open side. The type of collar you are using will determine if you should get an open or closed tag. The closed sides are good for a buckle closure and the open sides are good for collars with a snap closure.
  • Rivet. Stainless steel dog tags don’t fit all collars. Some are too thick for them. For those of you who have a double ply or leather collar, a rivet dog tag may be for you. These attach to your dog’s collar by included rivets that your hammer on. The downside to this style, is that you have to make your own holes into the collar. Some people have tools to do this, but other people have use a knife to accomplish the same thing.
  • Key Ring. If you opt to use a hanging dog tag, this will attach to your dog’s collar with a key ring. This is just like any other dog tag.
  • Velcro. These are secure, however, long hair can stick to the Velcro.

Curve

Curved tags fit your dog’s collar better and are more comfortable around your dog’s neck.

Print or Engrave?

Consider if you want your tag to be printed or engraved. Engraved words will last longer than printed ones.

Font

Pay attention to the font and size of print used when you order your dog tag. If it is too small, others may not be able to read the dog tag easily. Depending on if your dog is approachable, you may want a tag with writing that is easy to read from a distance.

Customization

What do you want to put on your dog’s ID tag? The size of the dog tag you get usually determines the number of lines you are able to put on your tag. Do you want to include more than one contact number? Does your dog have any medical conditions you would want someone to know about? Is your dog microchipped? These are all things to consider when deciding what to put on your dog’s tag. Always double check your information before submitting your tag to be made.
