Summer is here and it is time to get out there! Camping can be a great bonding and fun experience for you and your dog. To make the best of your time while camping with your dog, here are some accessories that may help.
1. Royal Paw Heavy Duty Dog Tie Out Stake. This can be used for both small and large dogs and can hold a dog over 200lbs. It has a double blade design to withstand both vertical and lateral force so it can be used in dirt, grass, or sand without your dog being able to pull it out. This set comes with the stake, an installation tool to help you screw it into the ground, a cleaning brush, a carabiner clip, and a handy carrying case to bring it with you on your camping trip.
2. Another option to keep your dog close to you is to use the Amofy Dog Tie Out Cable. This can be used in conjunction with the Royal Paw Tie Out Stake or on its own. While camping with your dog, this can be used on its own by tying it around a tree. This is made of a PVC covered steel wired rope and swivel anti rust hooks. This cable is good for dogs up to 80lbs.
3. Instead of tying up your dog, if they are the type to like their own space, the X-Zone Portable Foldable Dog Playpen might be to their liking. This playpen has 8 mesh sides, a zippered door, and removable top for ventilation and a waterproof bottom. This also folds flat for easy portability.
4. If you are worried about your dog laying in the dirt and being exposed to ants, ticks, or other insects, try the Maxpama Portable Camping Elevated Pet Bed. This foldable bed has a mesh center to allow air flow and keep your pet cool on warm days and nights. It comes with a travel case and washes with water or a damp cloth.
5. When night time comes, the ChuckIt! Travel Bed will give your dog a soft place to lay their head. You can even put it on top of your elevated pet bed to keep your pooch off the ground. It is made of water resistant material and is machine washable. It also comes with a carrying case for easy storage and portability.
Keeping Your Dog Safe While Camping
6. If you are going hiking while camping with your dog, these QUMY Dog Boots provide them with protection. They are waterproof and have an anti slip sole. They can help protect against hot pavement and cuts when walking on gravel or thorns. Each shoe also has two reflective straps that help your dog be seen in dark surroundings.
7. To keep your dog visible when at your campsite when the sun goes down, the BSEEN LED Dog Collar can help. This collar has a mini USB to recharge and comes with three light settings: slow flash, quick flash and steady.
8. When it comes to being outside in the summertime, especially when in wooded areas, it is important to protect your pet from ticks and mosquitoes that can possibly transmit unwanted diseases. K9 Advantix II Flea and Tick prevention system not only protects your dog from fleas and ticks, but repels and kills mosquitoes as well. This treatment is used once a month and is suitable for dogs of all sizes, depending on their weight.
9. When traveling with your pet, whether camping or on the road, it is always good to have a first aid kit for unforeseen emergencies. Adventure Medical Kits Workin’ Dog Canine First Aid Kit with QuikClot is a good choice. This kit includes clotting gauze and a styptic pencil to help staunch bleeding, forceps for tick removal, eyewash, saline solution and irrigation syringe, as well as other emergency medical supplies you may need.
Keeping Your Dog Clean
10. After spending the day romping around the wilderness with your dog, they are sure to get dirty (and you as well). This Risepro Portable Camping Shower can help both you and your dog get clean. Simply fill a 5 gallon bucket with water, insert the motor and you have a portable shower that both you and your pet can use. This shower has a motor that needs to be charged via USB , so a portable phone charger or your car’s USB can do the trick.
11. To dry your dog off after a shower, The Dog Gone Smart Original Dirty Dog Shammy will help you dry your dog in no time with pockets to put your hands for an easier grip when drying. This shammy will dry 8x faster than a regular towel and is machine washable.
12. If your dog is like mine and doesn’t like the water, Petkin Oatmeal Pet Wipes might be the solution for you to get your pet clean after being outside all day. These are gentle enough to be used every day and contain organic oat extract, vitamin E and aloe.
Storing and Transporting Food
13. To easily store and transport your dog’s food with you on your camping trip, try Ruffwear’s Kibble Kaddie. This storage container can hold up to 42 cups of dog food. It has an easy pour pouch and a separate storage area where you can put collapsible dog bowls and doggie bags.
14. Guardians Collapsible Dog Bowls are great for travel and camping with your dog. They come with a carabiner clip to attach to your backpack or shorts while hiking. These bowls can be adjusted to fit the size you need to feed and/or give water to your dog. They are BPA free and are easy to clean.
15. If you will be camping with your dog for an extended amount of time and want a bigger option to store your pup’s food, the IRIS USA Elevated Feeder will help, with the largest size holding 64 cups of food. This comes with two 2 quart sized stainless steel dog bowls. It also has latches that seal the container to keep pests out of the food and make for easier portability. The feeder is also BPA free. Made in the USA.
