Inevitably we all have to pick up after our dogs when we walk them. There are a large variety of waste bags available to choose from. How do you know which ones are right for you?
We decided to give Earth Rated Waste Bags a try and this is our experience with them.
The Box
Earth Rated Waste Bags are available in rolls, boxes, with handles and without handles. They are also available in scented and unscented varieties.
We opted to try the unscented bags with handles that come in a box.
We paid $7.99 USD for a box of 120 handled bags.
The box included an opening on the side for which you can pull out each individual bag.
The Bags
Each bag measures 7 x 9 inches without the handles and 7 x 13.5 inches with the handles.
According to the manufacturer, these bags are designed to be easy to open, are “leak proof” and are made from 65% certified post consumer recycled plastic.
Our Experience
The bags were easy to get out of the box without any of the bags being ripped.
The size of each bag is huge. If you have a large dog with large sized messes, these bags are definitely for you. There is ample room in each bag to pick up after your dog.
We had an incidence of our dog going “soft” while out on a walk, and these bags were large enough to pick up after her and what we picked up did not soak through the bag or leak out in any way.
Each bag was easy to open. There was no fumbling around trying to get the bags open when needed.
The handles are a good size and it was easy to tie up each bag after picking up after our dog.

- Bag is too big for small dogs/messes.
- Box is inconvenient if you are used to carrying rolls of bags with you on walks.
Verdict
Overall, we really liked these bags. They were a good size and able to accommodate any messes we needed to pick up on our dog walks.
True to their word, the bags were easy to get out of the box, easy to open, and easy to tie when filled.
No matter how much of a mess we needed to pick up, the contents of the bag never leaked or got onto our hands – the hallmark of a good waste bag.
We would definitely recommend giving these Earth Rated Waste Bags a try. They come in different forms (roll or boxed), various scents (if you like that kind of thing), and are good enough to pick up large messes if needed.
