Our dog is a HUGE chewer. Every toy we get for her, she chews to shreds. We have been looking for a rawhide free alternative chew that is easy on her stomach, yet satisfies her urge to chew. Himalayan dog chews seemed to check off all the boxes, so we gave them a try. For this review, we used Himalayan Dog Chews made by Himalayan Pet Supply.

The Package
The package of Himalayan Pet Supply’s Himalayan Dog Chews comes with 3 Himalayan Dog Chews.
The company offers various sized chews depending on your dog’s weight.
Using a “chewmeter rating” on a scale from 0 to 10, with 0 being the softest and 10 being the hardest, these chews rank an 8.
The bag has notches on either side for easy opening.
The Chews
The chews are generally the same size, with some slight height differences between them.
They are very hard to the touch and don’t have much of an odor.
Our dog took the chew right away, but surprisingly, did not actually chew on it. In fact, she carried it around with her for a day before she finally started to chew it.
Although the treat seemed hard, she was able to chew it without any issues and seemed to really like it. Also surprisingly for us, she did not finish eating it in one session. In fact, it lasted for at least 3 days with her having a chewing session each day.
The Leftovers
When the treat got too small for her to safely handle and chew it, we followed the directions on the back of the bag:
Soak the chew in warm water for 5 min.
Heat for 45 seconds in a 1100 watt microwave oven.
Cool for 2 minutes.
Treat your dog to a homemade puff!
This was easy to do, only our dog didn’t know what to make of it at first. Once she tried it though, she loved it and devoured it in seconds!
Pros

- No waste: can create a new treat with the end piece.
Cons
- Bag is not resealable. Not sure how long chews will last once the bag is opened.
- Expensive. 3 chews can cost over $20 USD.
- Can be a little messy if your dog doesn’t lick up the crumbs.
- If your dog is an extremely aggressive chewer, it may only last a day.
Verdict
We love these Himalayan Dog Chews and so does our dog. They are the perfect size for her and they keep her busy for a few hours and they last for a few days each. We also love that we don’t have to throw the end piece away and can create a whole new treat for her to enjoy. The Himalayan Pet Supply’s Himalayan Dog Chew is well worth giving a try.
