We recently purchased the Purina Beggin’ Strips/ Busy Bone Advent Calendar for my dog. The cost was a little over $23 and includes 24 days worth of treats.
First Impression
This thing is HUGE! We were quite surprised at how big the advent calendar was when we received it in the mail. It measures 15″ x 11″ x 9.5″, so be sure to have a place to put it that is out of reach so your dog doesn’t jump ahead on the dates without your permission!
What’s In The Advent Calendar?
The advent calendar contains 24 days of treats and each day includes one of the following: original Beggin’ Strips, cheddar and bacon Beggin’ Strips, or a Busy Bone dog treat.
Opening The Box
The box contains perforated areas that you open up and find your dog’s treat. They are easy to open and I did not have any trouble reaching in to get the treat out.
The Treats Inside The Advent Calendar
While the Beggin’ Strips are considered “fun size”, I was surprised to see how much was contained in each bag. There were 15 pieces of bite sized goodness in each bag of Beggin’ Strips.
As for the Busy Bone, it measured approximately 4 x 2 inches.
My Dog’s Impression Of This Advent Calendar
As soon as we took out the first treat, which was a bag of Beggin’ Strips, she would not stop barking at us to give her one (apparently we were too slow opening the bag and taking pictures). She absolutely LOVED them and kept beggin’ for more (sorry, I couldn’t resist)!
The next day was the Busy Bone and she couldn’t wait to get that too. The only downside to the Busy Bone is that it did not take her much time to finish it (3 minutes flat!), but she loved it anyway!
Pros
- 24 days of treats.
- Treats are of a good size / amount.
- Easy to open “windows”.
- Our dog loves them.
Cons
- Size of calendar is a bit large.
- There is not much variety. Every day is either the Beggin’ Strips or Busy Bone. My dog doesn’t seem to mind this, but if you are looking for different treats each day, you will not find that with this advent calendar.
Verdict
If your dog is a fan of Beggin’ Strips or Busy Bone this advent calendar is for them! For the amount of treats you are getting, it is well worth the money spent. Your dog will also get something to look forward to each day.
