We Got The Brunch Box From Three Dog Bakery – A Review

The Brunch Box From Three Dog Bakery
The Brunch Box From Three Dog Bakery

When celebrating holidays, of course we want our dogs to celebrate with us. Unfortunately, not all of our food is safe (or good) for them to eat. Enter Three Dog Bakery. They specialize in fresh baked treats for dogs.

This past Easter, they offered a “Brunch Box” that contained a variety of baked treats. We decided to give it a try for our pup.

What Is Three Dog Bakery?

Three Dog Bakery is a bakery that specializes in dog treats that are “fresh-baked on-site by real pastry chefs who use simple, healthy, and wholesome ingredients”, according to their website.

You may have heard of Three Dog Bakery before, even if you don’t have a bakery near where you live. They also sell a series of packaged dog treats like sandwich cookies, biscuits, and jerky treats that are available online (Chewy, Amazon, Walmart) and at local stores.

Three Dog Bakery has over 40 locations, available in the USA, Canada, and Hong Kong, where you can get baked items for your dog that are not available as a packaged treat. These include:

  • Specialty cookies.
  • Homemade cakes.
  • Pupcakes (their version of a cupcake).
  • Brownies.

All are made with ingredients that are safe for your dog to consume. They also have options of treats that are wheat free and grain free.

What Is The Brunch Box?

For Easter, Three Dog Bakery offered a Brunch Box. We had never gotten anything like this for our dog before, so we thought we would give this a try.

It was advertised on their site as including:

  • Egg Casserole.
  • Blueberry Muffin Wafers.
  • Peanut Mutter Woofle.
  • Mutt-Mosa Lickety Split.
  • Stella & Chewy’s Wild Weenies.
  • Quiche Bites.
  • Cinnamutt Roll Crunch Cookies.

This was available for pre-order at a cost of $15.99 USD.

We were told to pick up our order the day before Easter and to keep it in the refrigerator until the following day.

The Food

Our food was given to us in a container similar to a take-out container. All of the food was laid out perfectly, each in its own place inside a cupcake liner.

There was:

  • 1 Egg Casserole.
  • 3 Blueberry Muffin Wafers.
  • 1 Peanut Butter Woofle.
  • 1 Mutt-Mosa Lickety Split. (This also had a cookie that looked like an orange wedge on top).
  • 3 Stella & Chewy’s Wild Weenies.
  • 3 Quiche Bites.
  • 4 Cinnamutt Roll Crunch Cookies.

Each item of food smelled like the actual product, for example, the Cinnamutt Roll Crunch Cookies smelled exactly like a cinnamon roll.

They were also of different textures, with some of the food being crunchy and others soft and chewy.

Our Dog’s Verdict

Our Dog Not So Patiently Waiting For Her Food From Three Dog Bakery
Our Dog Not So Patiently Waiting For Her Food From Three Dog Bakery

We gradually gave our dog each item throughout the day.

We started with the Woofle, which she promptly took to eat under the table. Our dog will bring something under the table when she does not want to be disturbed. This told us she liked it.

Next, she had the egg casserole. This was fairly large, so we split it up to give her. She seemed to really enjoy this as well and ate it up very quickly.

The remainder of the food we varied, ending with the Lickety-Split, but she ate them all right up and kept asking for more.

Most surprisingly, she ate the Blueberry Muffin Wafers. Our dog doesn’t like blueberries. We have tried to give her multiple treats containing blueberries and she spits them out. The fact that she ate these says a lot about how tasty they were.

Overall, she seemed to thoroughly enjoy her Brunch Box from Three Dog Bakery.

Our Verdict

The ordering process was easy. We just called the bakery directly and placed the order.

We were told we would get a phone call to remind us to pick it up the day before Easter, however, that phone call never came. If we were relying on that reminder, we wouldn’t have picked it up. They did post a reminder on their Facebook page for anyone who ordered to pick it up, but still not a phone call.

Pick up was easy from the bakery. There was quite the line actually, so this is definitely a place a lot of dog parents are going to.

The food looked good and was placed neatly in its container.

Our dog really enjoyed every bit of the food included in her Brunch Box.

The following day, however, her stomach didn’t. She had some digestive issues for the next few days after Easter. This could have been due to her not being used to the food, the amount of food being a little too much for her, or possibly an intolerance to one of the ingredients in the food.

***Update 7/6/24: We have since gotten a few more themed boxes from Three Dog Bakery since this was written (including their 4th of July box). Our dog absolutely loves the food from there and has not had any tummy issues with any of the subsequent boxes.

Pros

  • Easy to order.
  • Easy to pick up.
  • Food packaged well.
  • Dog enjoyed the taste of all of the food.

Cons

  • Did not receive a reminder phone call we were told we would get.
  • Food caused some digestive issues in our dog for the next few days after eating the food.

Overall Verdict

Overall, this was a good product. The food was packaged well and our dog definitely liked the taste of all that was included in the Brunch Box.

If your dog has a food allergy, you may want to pass on getting the Brunch Box and instead buy some of the individual treats available that may cater to your dog’s allergy. As mentioned above, they do carry wheat free and grain free treats.

Since our dog did experience some issues afterwards, we may have to do our own experiment to see if she has developed some allergies or if it was just a little too much food for her.

If your dog can tolerate most food, we would definitely recommend the Brunch Box from Three Dog Bakery. Hopefully they will offer this at other times throughout the year.

If not, Three Dog Bakery is a great place to get some special treats (or even a birthday cake) for your pup.
